Windsor's tribute to the Queen, to mark her diamond jubilee year
If you would like to make a donation to Windor's Diamond Jubilee Tribute, please go to the Fund Raising tab.
2012 is an important year for Windsor as it will mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee; the Queen will have reigned for 60 years. In history, only Queen Victoria has had a longer reign.
Local community organisations, co-ordinated by the Windsor and Eton Society, would like to mark this occasion with a permanent memorial because of the Queen’s special attachment to the town.
A committee has been formed to co-ordinate the selection and production of the diamond jubilee tribute and a public competition was held to invite suggestions. Over 40 entries were received.

At a Mayoral reception held on 1st April 2011 in the Guildhall, Windsor, Caroline Basra aged 14, from Windsor Girls' school, was judged to have made the most interesting suggestion. She was announced as the Diamond Jubilee Tribute competition winner.
Her idea is for a tribute consisting of 60 circles, to represent each year of the Queen's reign, to be placed between Waitrose and Daniel's department store in the King Edward's Court shopping centre, Windsor.
The memorial is to be funded by donations and fund-raising.
It is hoped that the Queen will inaugurate the memorial and the winner and two runners-up will be invited to this event as an additional part of their prize.
The Competition Timetable:
December 31 2010 Final date for entries (20th February 2011 for Schools / Youth groups)
